We were delighted to receive a major national award last night. At the UK Dev Awards ceremony in London, our developers were named Dev Team of the Year!

We were thrilled to win such a competitive category, especially as innovative development is at the very centre of every Rocketmakers’ project.

With more developers on the team than ever, we have expanded our technological expertise into exciting new areas, from machine learning to the frontier between webtech and 3D design. This appears to have really impressed the judges, who remarked:

“What an outstanding year of innovation and growth for this team. We were impressed with how well they were able to understand their market. Keep up the brilliant work!”

The projects that impressed the judges so much include:

Biscuit is a pet wellbeing platform which rewards pet owners for caring for their pets. The build required multiple complex third-party integrations, but the app has been a huge success and was ranked #1 in the Health and Fitness category on the App Store in Autumn 2022.

Hearts & Minds provides online perinatal mental health support to parents. Rocketmakers designed and built a new website with a complex front end development featuring innovative mapping content.

Beam is an in-house project for managing content in virtual and augmented reality environments. It allows content managers to refresh visual content in AR and VR as quickly and easily as it can be changed on a website, plus a sophisticated analytics system that measures user engagement with virtual objects.

A–Reality is a new platform for learning skills through virtual reality and web-based environments. Rocketmakers is designing software for hosting and displaying the teaching materials, and managing the learning process.

Orbit is a suite of microservices which helps our developers rapidly produce robust, well-designed code. Developed in-house and deployed on most Rocketmakers projects, Orbit has also won a national software award in its own right, the 2022 GoTech Award for Most Innovative Use of Software.

We were represented on the night by software engineer Matt Harris and business development manager Frank Mavin. Most of the developers who did the work for the award were at another event, however - our monthly team outing, which takes place on the last Thursday night of every month. When news arrived, the social event turned into a celebration!

“I was really thrilled to be with the development team last night when they were named the dev team of the year,” our CEO Richard Godfrey explains. “Every one of them has done amazing work in the last twelve months, and the recognition is well deserved.”
